Clear starting point for diagnosis Visible issues identified Supply condition confirmed Circuit and protection condition confirmed Electrical condition confirmed Fault identified Clear repair recommendation and quote

Electrical Troubleshooting FAQ

Common questions about electrical faults, diagnosis and repairs.
Why does my breaker or RCD keep tripping?
Repeated tripping can be caused by an electrical fault, overload, damaged equipment, wiring problems or an issue with the protective device itself. We test the affected circuit and protection to identify the cause before recommending a repair.
Why have I lost power in only part of my home?
Partial power loss may be caused by a tripped breaker, RCD, circuit fault, loose connection or supply issue. We check the affected circuits, electrical panel and supply to determine where the fault is located.
Why is my socket or switch not working?
A socket or switch can stop working because of a loose connection, damaged component, circuit fault, tripped protection or another wiring issue. We inspect and test the affected point and circuit before recommending the correct repair.
What causes lights to flicker or dim unexpectedly?
Flickering or dimming can be caused by a loose connection, faulty switch or fitting, voltage issue, circuit problem or incompatible equipment. If the problem keeps returning, the circuit should be properly tested.
What should I do if a socket, switch or cable becomes hot?
Stop using the affected equipment or circuit if you notice unusual heat, burning smells, discoloration or visible damage. These signs can indicate a loose connection, overload or another electrical fault that should be inspected.
Can you repair the fault during the troubleshooting visit?
Minor faults may sometimes be repaired during the same visit. If replacement parts, additional electrical work or a larger repair is needed, we explain the fault and recommend the next step before carrying out additional work.
